Description
Due to popular demand we have very limited stock of these rare heirloom seeds. This strain is available in our shop courtesy of Ace Seeds, the official reseller for the Indian Landrace Exchange. We would like to thank Ace Seeds for their kind collaboration.
The Red Kumrat regular cannabis seeds are a selection from the Kumrat Valley in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area. This Sativa strain has a tall, wispy structure up to 7 feet in height with minimal side branching. The mother plant had quite airy buds loosely covered in resin, and many bracts were already opening up to disperse the seeds. It carried a pungent piney smell along with aromas resembling glue.
Red Kumrat is a lovely example of a primordial landrace variety, which hasn't been systematically cultivated or domesticated but only used as a herb procured directly from the wild. Hence, these populations have survived entirely on their own in this harsh climate for the longest time by letting the environment completely control their evolutionary path. Environmental conditions gradually shape the plant populations over time to best fit their ecological habitats, which is imperative for long term survival.
Kumrat Valley is located towards the northernmost fringes of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at around 35°N, with an average elevation of 2000 meters. The valley lies in the lesser-known Kohistan region. In this region, snowfall comes as early as October-early November, which brings the valley to a halt until April, when the snow clears.
Kumrat Valley doesn't have any planned cultivation of cannabis, and all the cannabis populations in the valley are intact in their primordial form, utterly unaffected by any domestication efforts. These primordial landrace populations represent the actual Hindu Kush Sativa highland variety. They appear similar to the landrace populations in northern Kashmir (Lolab valley) and even in the southern Kashmir region like Srinagar and Pulwama.
The local Sativa variety grows slim wispy plants up to 5-7 feet. The seeds are ejected from the flower bracts automatically at different times during the flowering period, similar to other wild varieties. The overall lack of vigour in the plants is evident by lesser root mass and thin/wispy stems with airy bud growth. The buds typically feature smaller-sized bracts with a short life span, facilitating the self dispersal of the seeds. In the valley, seeds fall on the ground each year to be buried under the snow for at least four months before sprouting in the spring.
The seeds are typically oblong/pear-shaped, tiny, and dark in color. They have tough shells that seem to have developed multiple non-permeable layers, which stops the moisture from entering the seed for long periods, thus delaying germination until spring.
The weather around the harvest window is icy, with a wild swing in day and night time temperatures. Many plants can be seen expressing vibrant hues of purples and reds. The flowering window is only around 8-9 weeks in the valley, which begins in August and closes in the first week of October as the snow comes in.
Red Kumrat from Indian Landrace Exchange is especially recommended for outdoor growing in cold and dry climates due to its excellent adaptability to low temperatures and drought in its place of origin. It withstands without problems strong temperature variations throughout its development. It can easily be grown indoors too. Low to moderate nutrients are best throughout the life cycle.
This strain has a mild uplifting effect that is perfect for anyone seeking a buzz that doesn't overwhelm you or trigger racy heart, anxiety and paranoia.
Germination info: ILE seeds must be planted directly in soil. A heating mat is beneficial during cooler months. The average germination time is 5-12 days. Do NOT throw away your soil if the seedlings don't appear after a few days!
ILE will not accept any reclamation regarding germination issues if a customer does not follow this germination method.
