Purple Haze 19 A5 takes its name from its highly distinguished lineage. A cross between the best Green Haze mother (#19) from the Oldtimer's Haze line, and the elite clone of A5 Haze (NL # 5 x Original Haze male A) from Nevil. This is a hybrid of almost pure Haze expression with renewed vigour. It contains the legendary features of Purple Haze #23 (similar to the old green Colombians and Colombian Gold) and "brown" Haze (A5). Both have a strong incense aroma of excellent quality, reviving some of the best Colombian Sativa expressions of the 60s and 70s. For the first time these two mythical incense Haze lines of incredible quality, reputation and influence (Original Haze and Oldtimer's Haze), finally merge into one genepool dreamed of by all Haze lovers.
The mother Purple Haze #23 clearly dominates in this hybrid with its tropical Sativa character, both in growth and flowering traits, as well as in its psychoactivity, terpenes and the final mauve pigmentation so characteristic of Purple Haze. The powerful A5 Haze brings plenty of vigour, production and its distinctive classic Colombian Haze aromas, which combine with the aged and exotic terpenes of Oldtimer's Haze to create a bouquet, personality and effects that will excite the most purist of Haze hunters.
The extremely stable pure Oldtimer's Haze genetics provides uniformity to the highly heterozygous F1 NL Haze, fixing its tropical nature and pure Haze traits so that the influence of Afghan Indica from Northern Lights remains recessive and disappears from the phenotypic expression of the final hybrid.
This strain can be grown indoors with strong light intensity and enough space for its development. Low-moderate levels of nutrients are required for the whole cycle. Purple Haze 23 A5 feminized is a branchy flexible Sativa, with narrow leaves and medium-long internode spacing. Ace Seeds recommends switching to flowering after 15 days from seed, or starting from clones rooted for at least 7 days. A 11-13 light cycle for flowering indoors boosts bud development, avoids reflowerings, and excessive stretching in early flowering. Very suitable for SCROG, horizontal or network growing due to its excellent yield in the lateral branches and vigorous reaction to pruning.
Purple Haze 23 A5 can be cultivated outdoor in tropical/ subtropical climates, also with very good results in warm coastal areas with a mild autumn (Mediterranean, etc) up to 40°N. The flowering times of Green Haze 19 A5 are long and fall halfway between A5 Haze and Oldtimer's Haze. The late harvest is compensated by an overwhelming quality and undistorted true Haze character, and by a good yield that rarely suffers losses due to the excellent genetic resistance to cold, rain, powdery mildew and botrytis.
The effect is cerebral and clears the brain. Sensory perception is sharpened and amplified. This is a strain if you are looking for a mentally stimulating effect that is fast-paced but eventually offers a gentle landing. In the reentry phase the mind tends to relax and calm down. Without being heavy, Purple Haze 23 A5 has the calmest of effects among the new hybrids combining tropical Sativa's with A5 Haze, these types of psychoactive effects being very common in the purple and brown Haze genetics that strongly predominate in this hybrid.
