Description

Behemoth is an extraordinary Afghan landrace from Tora Bora in the Spin Ghar mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Collected from a farmer's private backyard garden at around 2,000 metres elevation, this highland hash plant preserves an unusual narrow-leaf expression with a tall, heavily branched structure and an extended flowering period of 14–16 weeks.

The name Behemoth suits the plant. It grows tall and develops an impressive framework of slender branches carrying flowers throughout the plant. Thin leaves and abundant branching give it a very different appearance from the compact broad-leaf Afghan hashplants familiar to most growers. Sovereign Farmers selected this particular phenotype for its combination of visual appeal and overall performance.

These plants come from a demanding mountain environment. In their native region they are traditionally grown in enclosed mud-walled gardens and backyards, where generations of cultivation under dry conditions have produced hardy plants with very low water requirements.

Resin production is one of Behemoth's outstanding qualities. Despite its narrow leaves and long flowering cycle, the selected phenotype produces the abundant resin expected from a traditional Afghan hashplant, making it particularly interesting for hash enthusiasts and breeders exploring the diversity of old Afghan cannabis.

The aroma is complex and unusual. Bright fruity notes reminiscent of a carbonated lime drink lead the profile, followed by walnut and sharp hints of cleaning agents. The result is a distinctive combination of citrus, nuts and chemical sharpness with plenty of old-world character.

The effect can be expected to lean toward the uplifting and cerebral side, with an engaging head high accompanied by the relaxing body character of traditional Afghan hashplant genetics.

Behemoth one of the longest-flowering selections in the Sovereign Farmers collection. Its combination of tall growth, narrow leaves, extensive branching and heavy resin production offers a fascinating glimpse into a less familiar side of Afghanistan's traditional hashplant gene pool.

For landrace collectors and breeders, Behemoth is a remarkable piece of Tora Bora cannabis heritage with an unusual lime-walnut-chemical terpene profile. A distinctive Afghan highland population for anyone interested in exploring the extraordinary diversity preserved within traditional Hindu Kush cannabis.
