Thanks to a recent exciting discovery in Durban these pure landrace genetics are now available to the cannabis community for further conservation and breeding. Ryan, who lives and surfs in Durban, is known for his preservation work at the “Love Of Landrace” collective.
He was gifted a stash of 300 Durban seeds dating from the 1980's. Astonishingly, 13 seedlings managed to grow healthy and vigorously despite their age. Strain hunter Ryan immediately started a breeding initiative, cultivating the plants in the traditional style. These 80's Durban Poison regular seeds are not just authentic, they're grown in Durban soil under the African sun!
80's Durban Poison has never been hybridized with any modern strain, making it the real deal. Cultivators can anticipate that these plants will look noticeably different from the Dutch version and commercial hybrids. Durban Poison hails from a very humid region and its highly resistant to mold and pests. This hardy and vigorous plant grows up to 4 meters (13 feet) high with branches reaching out like creepers. 80's Durban Poison has a mainly peppery aroma with a whiff of passion fruit. Best planted at the start of spring, this African Sativa flowers approx. 18 weeks outdoor in the ground. The buds are shaped like fox tails and form large colas. Thanks to the long flowering time, it yields a big amount of quality marijuana.
For indoor cultivation previous experience with tall landrace Sativa's is beneficial. Pruning, LST, other training methods, and switching to flowering early will help to control height. Needless to say, a strong light source is required to get decent results. Indoor yield is average and depends on the grow conditions.
The Durban high is renowned for its strong and long-lasting effect. It's inspirational, clear, and creative buzz make it a great daytime smoke. If you are prone to anxiety start with a small dose, you may still feel a bit overwhelmed at the onset but this should soon pass. Durban Poison also has a naturally occurring THCV level of almost 1%. This minor cannabinoid is known to be an appetite suppressant while providing invigorating and focusing effects.
