Description

Farsiwan is an exceptional Indica landrace from Farah Province in southwestern Afghanistan, collected directly from a farmer's private garden in the village of Brimalabad. This highly uniform population has been cultivated by Persian-speaking Farsiwan farmers and represents a fascinating piece of Afghanistan's traditional cannabis heritage.

The name "Farsiwan" refers to the Persian-speaking farming communities associated with these genetics. According to the local farmers, their cultivation stretches back generations, with the tradition said to predate the arrival of Islam in the region.

Farsiwan grows to around 5.5 feet (165 cm) with remarkably consistent height and structure throughout the population. The greatest visible variation appears in the leaves, which range from thin to broad and exceptionally broad expressions.

These plants are tough. In their homeland they are traditionally cultivated in enclosed mud-walled gardens and private backyards, sometimes outside conventional agricultural land. Their very low water requirements make them particularly well adapted to the hot, arid conditions of Farah near the Iranian border.

The aroma is one of Farsiwan's most distinctive traits. An intensely pungent old-world aroma combining garlic, onion, earthy herbs and the unmistakable sulfurous funk of asafoetida. Sovereign Farmers describes the aroma as so intense and overpowering that spending extended time beside the plants can become challenging. Growers searching for unusual old-world terpene profiles, and those who are tired of candy/tart strains, will find plenty to explore here!

The effect appears equally strong. Sovereign Farmers describes the experience through two very simple signs: extreme cottonmouth and staring at the clock. This is a deeply absorbing, heavily stoned Indica experience with pronounced time distortion and the kind of contemplative state where minutes can suddenly feel like hours.

Farsiwan is a particularly exciting choice for landrace collectors and breeders searching for authentic Afghan genetics with excellent drought adaptation, unusual leaf diversity and a truly distinctive aroma. Its combination of uniform growth and old-world character makes this a remarkable window into the cannabis traditions of western Afghanistan.
