Description

Legendary for its bubblegum sweet smell and euphoric high. Bubble Gum grows into a medium-tall plant, usually not too branchy, and produces compact, crystal covered buds. Plants grown from seeds are very similar to one another.

Originally the Bubblegum strain was developed by growers in Indiana, USA. Later those original genetics came to the Netherlands and were given to three different seed companies. Each created their own ‘original Bubble Gum’ from that genetic material. The Serious Seeds Bubble Gum is more Sativa in appearance and effect. A sturdy and strong plant, with the characteristic, sweet smell truly resembling a typical bubble gum taste, and euphoric high - the original trademarks of this famous strain. The main terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene.

This is the only inbred strain (not an F1 hybrid) in the Serious catalogue. Bubble Gum has won 13 awards in High Times Cannabis Cups and similar festivals. The legendary sweet strawberry flavour of this variety is well pronounced in plants grown from feminized seeds. The Bubble Gum is also the mother plant of the legendary Strawberry Banana produced by Crockett Family Farms.

Bubble Gum usually starts with a strong euphoria and has a strong body effect. Some smokers find it dreamy, calming, and sometimes experience a sleepy or couch lock stone. This makes it helpful for use against anxiety, stress, and sleep disorders. It also affects the head but is generally not thought provoking.

The History of "Bubble Gum"

There are several varieties in the world of cannabis genetics whose origin and subsequent selection process are not clear. Growers are particularly confused when a certain variety is offered under the same name by two or more seed banks: who has the original, who has the copies? The Bubblegum variety is a controversial variety, with at least two seed banks offering their own versions, in this case: Serious Seeds and T.H. Seeds (both residing in Amsterdam), not to mention all the bad copies. So, we traced the true roots of Bubble Gum.

The two breeders mentioned ended up with two corresponding versions of the breeding history of Bubble Gum, giving good reasons for the existence of two high-quality Bubble Gum strains. A grower in Indiana, USA developed the strain during the 1980s. In 1993, this person gave three very different female Bubble Gum plants to Adam of T.H. Seeds, but also to Simon and Tony (the two separated shortly after, with Simon founding Serious Seeds and Tony Sagarmatha Seeds).

Bubble Gum therefore arrived in the Netherlands in the hands of three breeders. From that moment, three breeders wrote different new chapters in Bubble Gum's breeding history, and its development branched out. These breeders were going to make their own special selection from the three different genetic types they had received. Simon reports: “As far as I know, T.H. Seeds worked more with one of these 3 plants than I did”. Therefore Adam considers his Bubble Gum as "mainly indica", while Simon places his version in the "mainly sativa" category. He focused his research on two of the three lineages, ultimately deciding on a type that would become his Bubble Gum seed variety. It took Simon five generations to reach the desired breeding result, then officially registering it under the name "Bubble Gum".
