Black Tiger from PuRa Seeds is a premium reproduction of a high-yielding black heirloom Indica originally collected in Balochistan, Pakistan in 2022 by ILE. This is a "broad leaf" THC-dominant selection of the strain. Only one generation removed from its source, this authentic pure Indica is very rare and offers finest quality traditional hash plants with strong medicinal properties.
Balochistan lies between 25-30°N and is Pakistan's largest province. This latitude contributes to the region's arid and extreme climatic conditions, including intense UV radiation, low humidity, and large diurnal temperature variations. It features a harsh climate (BWh and BWk classification) with cold winters and warm summers in the highlands.
The Black Tiger strain originates from a cold, desert region (BWk) found in high altitude areas such as Quetta and Mastung. Winters are cold, often with snowfall, while summers remain warm but not as extreme as in the lowlands. This rugged landscape serves as the ultimate testing ground for plant resilience. Only genotypes with exceptional tolerance to drought, cold and heat thrive in these unforgiving conditions.
Balochistan hosts diverse cannabis expressions across farming regions. Farmers prioritize vigorous, late-flowering plants, which are regarded as superior for producing some of the world's finest hashish.
Our organic Black Tiger cannabis seeds can be easily germinated in seedling soil. Soaking the seeds and other pre-germination methods are not recommended. We accept no responsibility for results if customers insist on germinating in paper tissues or soak their seeds in water.
Black Tiger thrives in hot, dry, and Mediterranean climates, thanks to its exceptional drought and heat tolerance. This corresponds to USDA plant hardiness zones 8-10 (parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California). The plants also tolerate cold spells during flowering, which contributes to the black appearance, and can endure significant temperature fluctuations throughout their growth cycle. In rainy northern climates a greenhouse with humidity control is required.
When grown in the ground or large containers, the plants exhibit vigorous growth, forming tall, round, and bushy structures with broad leaves. They can reach impressive heights of 3–3.5 meters (10–12 ft) with numerous robust, productive secondary branches.
While ideal for outdoor cultivation, this hardy Indica heirloom adapts well to indoor cultivation and is a high yielder. Black Tiger is remarkably easy to grow and beginner friendly. The plants show sex within 2 weeks of 12/12 light cycle and are ready to harvest after 11+ weeks in total.
There are two general phenotypes, with variations in bud structure and height: a taller columnar plant and a shorter Christmas-tree-shaped plant. Indoors a slightly longer growth cycle of 5 weeks (in soil) is recommended because the strain is not accustomed to artificial light. Mature plants reach approx. 1.3-1.5 meter (4 ft) for the columnar pheno and 1.1 meter (3.6 ft) for the Christmas-tree pheno with 5 weeks vegetative time in organic cultivation. If shorter plants are required you can reduce the veg time to 4 weeks before switching to flowering.
Black Tiger has lush foliage with thick shoots and grows well under white LED (200W or more recommended) and 400-600W HPS lamps. During flowering, high lumens per m2 is best to maximize production. It’s possible to cultivate in high-quality potting soil and 20 Liter (5+ gallon) containers, or 8 Liter airpots, with minimal or no additional feedings, provided the plants are not root-bound early in their life cycle. Needless to say, a quality potting soil should be used. We like to mix in 10% worm castings and some compost for a rich soil texture with a natural nutrient supply.
Most plants turn deep purple-black towards the end of flowering. Depending on the phenotype the colours may appear primarily in the flowering bracts or extend to all leaves as well. The deep black plants easily turn colour from the top downwards. Other's may need temperatures below 6°C. The Christmas-tree pheno is so frosty it can appear to radiate light from its super-resinous buds. It remained green in our cultivation and may need very cold nights to turn colour, but its a fantastic keeper and produces finest quality Indica buds.
The aroma of Baloch strains is known to be wide-ranging. We observed predominantly spicy, peppery, and lime, while some plants had an exotic smell of tropical fruits. Dried buds can exude a tangy freshness with a musky perfume.
Black Tiger cannabis offers a powerfully sedative wave-like bliss and is a muscle relaxant that melts away aches and pains, making it an excellent choice for medicinal extracts and therapeutic use. Among the many potential uses are pain relief, sleep aid, anxiety and stress relief, cancer treatment. Some plants contain higher levels of CBD as well (a lab analysis is available soon). Commercial growers will appreciate the high yielding, colourful chunky buds with great bag appeal.
