Foitong regular seeds is named after a traditional Thai dessert made of delicate, intensely sweet golden threads, celebrated for its vivid orange color. This cultivar takes its name from the striking orange-gold pistils that densely cover its flowers and often remain vibrant even at full maturity.

Among the Prempavee collection, Foitong stands out as one of the most challenging Thai landraces. Yet it remains an old-school gem treasured by local farmers for its unique character and heritage.

Foitong grows as a Christmas tree–shaped sativa and is best suited for outdoor cultivation in warm and tropical climates. It shows excellent resistance to heat, heavy rains, wind, and mold.

Harvested buds release a refined aroma of green mango, sticky rice, and orange. Sweet, rounded, and smooth, the scent is rich without being overpowering and reflects its dessert-inspired name.

Foitong’s effects are highly influenced by harvest timing. Early harvests tend to produce a more uplifting and energetic experience, while later harvests lean toward deeper body relaxation and couch-lock. When harvested at the optimal moment, the effect is intensely psychoactive, delivering a powerful yet balanced experience that has earned Foitong its reputation as a classic among traditional Thai cultivars.

Germinating Foitong Landrace Seeds

Germination is notably more difficult than with other Prempavee cultivars, which are typically vigorous and easy to start. Seeds are fresh from the current year and viable, but even small mistakes during germination can prevent sprouting. Overnight soaking followed by germination in a controlled, humid environment is strongly recommended. Once established, plants display strong pest resistance, though overall vigor is lower than varieties such as Tiger Tail or Squirrel Tail, requiring closer care throughout the growing cycle.

About Prempavee

Prempavee is a mother and organic farmer from Isaan in northeastern Thailand. Her farm sits at the center of a region that, during the 1960s and 1970s, was once the largest source of what became known as Thai Stick. Contrary to common belief, Thai Stick is not a cannabis strain, but a traditional method of bundling cannabis flowers around thin sticks to make them easier to transport and conceal.

While Thai Sticks themselves have largely disappeared with the advent of modern preservation techniques, the original landrace genetics used to produce them remain alive. These varieties are carefully maintained by Prempavee and more than 2,000 other local farmers. The most widely cultivated landrace in the region is Hang Krarok (aka Hang Kra Rog), meaning “Squirrel Tail,” followed by Hang Suea (“Tiger Tail”), Foitong (“Golden String”), Black Mango, and others.

Prempavee belongs to long-standing farming collectives where entire villages have worked together to safeguard these genetics for generations. Their seeds come from open-pollinated fields, resulting in rich genetic diversity and a wide range of traits. Historically, these Thai landraces were prized by renowned breeders for enhancing terpene profiles, potency, and yields. Today, as legalization in Thailand has introduced many foreign varieties, these traditional Thai Sativa's are becoming increasingly scarce, making their preservation more important than ever.
