Description
California Dream feminized is a fantastic, beginner-friendly strain with an impressive yield and a wonderful old-school taste from its Mexican and Afghan parents.
The plants are a dream to grow and are very stress-resistant, making them forgiving of plant care mistakes. They start flowering quickly after 12/12 and continue progressively at a regular pace. A notable feature of California Dream is that it also performs well indoors under 'low light' (i.e. 200W HPS lamps or low watt LED lamps). However, for maximum yield, standard light intensity is required.
This is a homogeneous strain similar in appearance and height, which means you can rely on steady results when growing from seeds. Under a standard 3-4 week vegetative time in soil with 400-600W HPS/m2, the plants tend to stretch to approx. 1 meter (3.3 feet) with minor variation.
The attractive buds have a typical conical shape with towers of resin-soaked calyxes. Some buds are denser than others, but the differences are minimal. This strain may have good potential for SCROG. Commercial growers will appreciate the seriously fat buds that not only look great but also add significant weight to the scale.
California Dream prefers to grow in a balanced soil mix without excessive nitrogen content, and 'hot' organic mixes with bat guano should be avoided. In a sea of green (SOG) method, it's recommended to prune the shoots at the bottom three internodes to strengthen the top branches. Mold resistance tends to be high.
Resin output is reliable among all plants and the buds are easy to trim after harvest. Outdoors, California Dream can be grown in temperate regions as long as the weather does not turn nasty before the harvest date around mid-September. That said, our California Dream has been successfully grown up to 50°N, but you should always have an outdoor-north backup strain in case its a very wet season.
The effects are quick-hitting, producing a cheerful and long-lasting high that can be felt in both body and mind.
