Description

This highland Sativa landrace, cultivated in Northern Laos by the members of the Akha tribal group, is recommended to collectors, preservationists and breeders alike. It is not only colourful, but also flavourful and extremely vigorous. The Akha tribe may have taken these seeds from Yunnan and carried them into Laos at the start of the 20th century. This Laotian Sativa shows some Indica characteristics, like sweet aromas, short flowering time, and big trichome glands. These traits hint at a connection between the Yunnanese landrace and the tall Southeast Asian Sativa's found in Laos and neighbouring countries.

Bodhi, a famous strain hunter and breeder, collected the seeds directly at the source during his Yunnan, China and Northern Laos expedition in 2014. A joint project with the Mitseedco then allowed the team at Khalifa Genetics to preserve this rare strain while improving its sexual stability indoors.

If you are in the market for a fast growing and vigorous strain, Lao Highland Tribe is the strain for you. This pure landrace may also be one of the fastest-flowering strains in Southeast Asia. The plants will get huge quickly but are easy to manage even indoors because of their relatively short flowering time. Even the seeds are big. It produces large and very round seeds, which is unusual for a Sativa variety.

This marijuana plant can thrive in very poor soils. That's why, the substrate should not be too rich. The growth pattern is like the classical Christmas tree shape of tropical Sativa strains. You may want to start pruning or training the shoots early because this is a seriously tall plant. On the bonus side, flowering starts early after only 3 weeks. Mold resistance is high. The plants have broad leaflets in their early stages of vegetative growth, which then become narrower as they age.

Many plants turn light purple towards the end of their flowering cycle. The purple phenos tend to have deep berry aromas, while the green buds often express more of a floral/vanilla smell. Although it's rare, a small portion of the green plants have a hazy/citrus note. The taste is also quite interesting as most flowers have a fruity, soapy and woody taste. The potency of the flowers ranges from mild to strong depending on phenotype. Lao Highland Tribe has a clean energetic effect at first which slowly turns into a calm and pleasant relaxation.

Worthwhile for the exceptional ones.

A few exceptional specimens per pack. This landrace would benefit from selection and sifting in order to find gems. About 2 in 12 have notably worthwhile potency/effects. Therefore, and because it's a landrace, I'd suggest it is best to obtain as many seeds as convenient in order to select for quality.
It does attract spider mites, even drawing mites away from other cultivars, so good gardening practices are necessary, and experience with landraces is beneficial. There were no hermaphrodites or late stage nanners. Wonderful exotic aromas! Woody cinnamon spice, black tea, ginger, allspice, vanilla, clove, nutty, exotic floral. Some have skunk and lemon-citrus aromas. Peak effects lasting about 1-2 hours, with mild effects lasting several hours afterward of the best specimens. Given that 2 or 3 of 12+2 are worth pursuing, I would get several packs to increase my odds if I were to get it again. Recommended, but beginners may have a steeper learning curve.
