Description
Unique and rare, Filipino Kibungan is one of the most exciting and original Sativa's to come out recently. In the Philippines, cannabis cultivation is punishable by life imprisonment, which causes local farmers to be extremely cautious. Therefore, sourcing seeds from that region is very difficult. The war on cannabis along with the introduction of foreign genetics have already made many Filipino landraces disappear. For these reasons, a local Filipino grower offered these heirloom seeds to the Khalifa team for their reproduction and preservation. Collectors and breeders looking for a low maintenance Sativa with excellent mold resistance and fruity terpenes will love this Filipino landrace.
A Filipino mountain strain, Kibungan originates from a remote and mountainous area of northern Philippines with few inhabitants. Local farmers typically grow these plants in hidden patches up in the mountains.
The Kibungan cultivar is fast growing and branched. When the plants bloom, they focus their energy on the tops and produce long Sativa spears. It has the ability to withstand high humidity due to the abundant rainfalls. The airy buds let the air flow through them and never mold. The buds can be wispy, but some plants produce long and heavy yielding colas. This Highland cultivar is also cold resistant. While many tropical cannabis strains prefer less nutrient rich soils, Filipino Kibungan can also grow in more fertile soil. As a result, it is more forgiving and beginner-friendly than most other tropical landraces.
Kibungan cannabis brings a unique mix of flavors and aromas. Most plants produce a delicious fruity scent reminiscent of a sweet and creamy tropical fruit, but some phenotypes are also hazy and woody. When the plants start to bloom, they yield a variety of smells. Many plants produce greasy stems with a distinct fruity smell during early flowering. As the plants mature, the sweet fragrance changes to one of tropical fruit and spices. The taste is often more woody while the sweetness is still present in the exhale.
Filipino Kibungan is an uplifting, fast-hitting strain that encourages creativity and happiness. If harvested late, it will have a more balanced effect, producing a relaxing sensation.
