Phu Phan “Tiger Tail” is one of the most favoured landraces among traditional farmers in Nakhon Phanom province, valued especially for its naturally high THC levels. This cultivar from the Phu Phan region represents a powerful expression of classic Thai Sativa genetics, long appreciated for both its potency and adaptability in local conditions.

Phu Phan Tiger Tail grows in a classic Christmas tree structure, though pruning can encourage a bushier form. Like its close relative Phu Phan “Squirrel Tail" (available as Hangkrarok Manao) it develops long, well-spaced branches that allow light and airflow to penetrate deeply.

It performs well in most environments but truly excels outdoors in warm and tropical climates, where it shows impressive resistance to heat, heavy rain, and wind.

This strain is extremely vigorous and performs best when allowed to grow freely with minimal interference. Its long flowering cycle can be challenging at higher latitudes, making a light deprivation system in a greenhouse a useful option. Indoors plants can easily double in size during flowering.

The terpene profile is complex and refreshing, combining ripe mango with minty and eucalyptus notes, layered over bright citrus tones. The aroma is both tropical and fresh, distinctive of high-quality Thai landraces.

Local farmers often consider Phu Phan Tiger Tail stronger than Squirrel Tail. Effects vary widely depending on harvest timing and curing techniques, ranging from energizing, uplifting, even psychedelic to sedative.

Phu Phan Tiger Tail is a compelling choice for those seeking potent, traditional Thai Sativa experiences.

About Prempavee

Prempavee is a mother and organic farmer from Isaan in northeastern Thailand. Her farm sits at the center of a region that, during the 1960s and 1970s, was once the largest source of what became known as Thai Stick. Contrary to common belief, Thai Stick is not a cannabis strain, but a traditional method of bundling cannabis flowers around thin sticks to make them easier to transport and conceal.

While Thai Sticks themselves have largely disappeared with the advent of modern preservation techniques, the original landrace genetics used to produce them remain alive. These varieties are carefully maintained by Prempavee and more than 2,000 other local farmers. The most widely cultivated landrace in the region is Hang Krarok (aka Hang Kra Rog), meaning “Squirrel Tail,” followed by Hang Suea (“Tiger Tail”), Foitong (“Golden String”), Black Mango, and others.

Prempavee belongs to long-standing farming collectives where entire villages have worked together to safeguard these genetics for generations. Their seeds come from open-pollinated fields, resulting in rich genetic diversity and a wide range of traits. Historically, these Thai landraces were prized by renowned breeders for enhancing terpene profiles, potency, and yields. Today, as legalization in Thailand has introduced many foreign varieties, these traditional Thai Sativa's are becoming increasingly scarce, making their preservation more important than ever.
