Ciskei regular seeds originates from the mountain range in the Drakensberg area in South Africa. The strain grows there at an altitude of 1500-2000 meters and has adapted to high altitude and a short flowering season.
Ciskei grows quite differently to equatorial Sativa's and is compact in size and not stretchy. It's easy to grow indoors and in small spaces such as a grow box or on a balcony. During flowering the buds quickly become dense and they have a great calyx-leaf ratio. The flowering time is very short with only 55 days.
This strain also does well outdoors in difficult climates and the north. Due to the early harvest it's a reliable landrace to try out if your season ends by the start of September. The effect is typical of Sativa genetics, energetic and stimulating, but not overwhelmingly so - a good herb for beginners, to stay functional, and if you are prone to anxiety or nervousness but don't want to miss out on a psychoactive boost to the day.
